This track which starts unusually slow vocals with a hint of classical becomes an out an out rock track by the end and you will be amazed the way it progresses. With very simple lyrics and slow rendition this will slowly catch on to you and will potentially become your “coding track”# or the drive to office song.
Couldn’t get the lyrics on the net (no ctrl c .. ctrl v) so i had to resort to my desi technique of notepad + wmp and had to actually type down the words while listening on my headphones for extra clarity. I might have still misspelled some words, do correct them if you find so.
BTW, do listen to all the tracks of Dev D (all 18 of ‘em), its one of those albums you wont regret buying, the composer Amit Trivedi really did a good job of getting such a variety in one album.

What is the meaning of ‘daras’ by the way…googled but could not find any satisfactory post explaining about it….
Insane song, amazing rhythm.. the songs catches on beautifully!
Thanks for the lyrics…
thanks for the lyrics.. the OST is amazing, loved the movie too have already seen it thrice..
BTW, the lyrics in the first para are..
Nayan tarse
Nayan tarse
Taras** na mile
not daras as sim suggested!!
“daras” means darshan…
it’s used qt often in punjabi folk…..
Hey.. it is not taras or daras
it is
Charas na mile
The pic you have here is amazing…i was looking for the lyrics of nayan tarse and got to yhis site.
yeah!
its true
the word is ‘charas’ not daras.
Guys, it’s go to be ‘Taras na mile” since that goes with “Nayan Tarse”
It’s not “nayan darse” or “nayan charse” (WTF!) now, is it?
What you say is “Dono se bahe dhaar”, sounds to me like “Zoron se bahe dhaar”, but I could be wrong…
In any case, the song is awesome! Trivedi kicks some major ass!
@sandeep/kundan/ruchika you are funny! fisher gaye! (WTF!!?)
Hey, just found an accurate version

Thanks a lot folks for the feedback. I read through all and have made the suggested changes. Although some portions of the songs are not very clear and there is a chance of ambiguity. Anyways who cares about the corner bits, the song rocks anyways be it Daras or Taras
nice wrk man .. i really appreciate, tnx
Can anyone plz translate the song so that ppl like me can understand the meaning of the lines!!!!
really loved the movie and the music…would like to go deep into what is the meaning of the lyrics….plzzzzzzzzz
thanx dude 4it !
can u post Pardesi lyrics ?
It IS Daras na mile . Nayan tarse because daras nahi mil raha .. It can not be ” Nayan tarse , taras na mile” .
I think its: “bisar gaye, bisar gaye, *kithe*” ( where did you lose yourself? )
I wonder why so many people insist that it is ‘taras’ and not ‘daras’, ‘taras na mile’ makes no sense, ‘daras na mile’ does, as long as you know Hindi.
Hey.. thanks.. was looking for the lyrics..
Would definitely try something unusual in my next composing session.
Cheers!

Its a great song…
if you are drunk then this song is like perfect..
Hii,
This is a wonderful track composed by Mr. Trivedi. All d one I feel pleasant to listen the track…..
Also the Music is superb…………..
oye Champion its Bisar gaye for sure …. Its used extensively in rural MP ( Madhya Pradesh),India and
BISAR GAYE( rural Hindi) = BHOOL GAYE (Standard HINDI) = FORGOT(Angrezi)
Hey Guys, The correction is here. It’s
NAYAN TARSE, NAYAN TARSE, DARASH (which is meant DARSHAN=VISION/GLIMPSE) NA MILE.
It means that: My eyes are aspiring/looking/searching for you and I am unable to have a glimpse of yours.
Guys knowing Hindi can understand better.
It is correct when rhymed with: Nayan tarse, nayan tarse.. Darash na mile.
Oh My GOD! u guys can really argue!!!
its ‘daras na mile’ . u see, as Sujata has pointed out, ‘nayan tarse’ because Paro ka ‘daras’ or ‘darshan’ nahi mil raha hai. And about ‘charas na mile’ – good joke – but it can’t be ‘charas na mile’ coz at that time Dev was getting all the charas, bhang, ganja, alchohol that he wanted.
secondly, its ‘biser gaye, kithe’ i.e. ‘where have u got lost’.
But what about the lyrics of other Dev D songs? Not getting Duniya, Hiknaal, Ek hulchul si, Mahi mennu nahi karna pyaar, etc.
Rudra, i think u’ll get Pardesi in hidilyrix.net – not sure of the website, but google search ‘Dev D lyrics’ or ‘lyrics of hindi songs’ – u’ll get quite a few lyrics. thats how I got here.
u guys, don’t u like the songs of the next Anurag Kashyap flick – ‘Gulaal’ ?
नयन तरसे.. नयन तरसे..
दरस न मिले नयन तरसे (couldnt get to see the beloved)
डोरों से बहे धार (tears flowing thru eyes)
नयन तरसे
